Student Collection of Personal Items June 8-11

Student Collection of  Personal Items – June 8-12, 2020 (updated June 4/2020)

Good afternoon students, families, and community,

We are planning to allow access to our school for students during the week of June 8th-11th to collect personal items from their lockers. Next week we will have staff come in to help prepare our school for our students’ arrival to retrieve personal belongings. All students have an appointment time for this process to enable us to follow public health directives. You may view your appointment time here:

(A GNSPES username and password is required - hint: use CTRL F to help find your name.

This is the same username/password that your child uses to access our online classrooms.)

If you are unable to access your appointment time on-line, please call (902) 493-5132.

Please make every effort to arrive at your scheduled time to so we can maintain the necessary 6ft/2m of physical distance from others. Our schedule will have approximately 5-6 students in our school during each time slot with considerations given to where our Grade 7, 8 and 9 lockers are located within our school.

Prior to your arrival:

Students should gather materials that need to be returned to school and bring the items with them to their scheduled appointment time. Some of these items may include:

-Textbooks belonging to our school
-Library books and resources
-School technology (i.e. calculator, Chromebook)

Our students should bring an empty knapsack or kit bag to pack their own personal items. There will be a station established for the return of their combination lock that was assigned to them at the beginning of the 19-20 academic year.

While at School:

Measures will be taken to minimize contact of items between staff and students. Students/families are advised to wash or sanitize hands after collecting any items that have been handled by staff and may want to set aside the package for a few days as an added precaution. A small number of staff members will be on hand, spaced apart from students to help guide them and facilitate access to spaces where personal belongings may be stored.

If a student is unable to come to school in cases where the student is in self-isolation, a family member or friend who is not in self-isolation and not in close contact, can pick up the material. As advised by Public Health, use of PPE (masks, gloves, etc) is not required. However, if individuals choose to wear PPE while they are onsite, they may do so.

Thank you in advance for reading and taking steps to follow the procedures outlined above. We are looking forward to a safe process for all our students to retrieve their personal belongings.

Sincerely,

Barrett
